I have a 1985 omc sea drive motor that I think the timing gears are shot. it's at the very bottom of the engine when you take the cover off. Can anyone tell me if this is the timing gears and if it is replaceable or not. Plus it has a hole about the size of a pencil in that area, what could that be from????

Re: omc motor

You need to post this in the I/O forum you will get much better results there.

Re: omc motor

I think he is talking about a rebadged Johnson that Boston Whaler mounted on a special bracket in the 80s, Steelspike.

I would suggest the JohnnyRude Troubles Forum, but ask for more information about the engine, like model number, HP and a clarification of what he means by timing gears.
