1958 elgin(sears)(scott atwater?)coils

Sears/Elgin motors werew built by a number of companies we need a model number to determine who built yours for sure.Number will begin with 571 (West Bend) or 574 (McCulloch). usually appears somewhere on the mounting bracket.
It appears Elgin didn't have a 25 in 58 just 55 and 56 and 59 and possibly newer.
55,56 would be West Bend built.59 is McCulloch.
You might go to www.aomci.org and post a webvertise or see if someone has info on parts.

at this site i found info to determine it is a1959 mcculloch.model574 60250 ser#1041447 to be complete a new impeller,carb kit and coils would be nice.and thanks for the thread

laingsoutboards.com has parts for many brands.

yeah Laings might have new or used coils, but on my McCulloch 14hp one of the spark plug wires came loose from the coil and i just soldered it on
