:| I have a 2006 115 2 stroke with about 65 hrs on it that drinks fuel at the rate of 10 galhr/ running at 3500 to 3800 rpm pushing a 25Ft 2 log pontoon. I've asked around and was told by one individual this was normal. This I can’t believe.

What I noticed yesterday just after starting her was what looked & smelt like unburned fuel. I could see little droplets hit the water and spread out just like when you might spill some gas while fueling your boat. Any LTHRNEC???

I'd say 10gal/hr was better than normal considering what your setup is.

The rule of thumb (and it is very general) is to put a decimal point one number to the left of the horsepower rating. 115 = 11.5 which equates to the gal/hr at wide open throttle. That's true for any engine -- two stroke, four stroke. Some will be slightly more, some less but it gets you in the ballpark. A pontoon pushes hard and the motors work hard hence the higher fuel consumption. I think your numbers are normal.

a pontoon isnt exactly THEE most efficient hull design.

plus, youd go just as fast and with less fuel if you had a 50hp

You dont tell us how you are propped. This engine should turn 5500 rpm at full throttle. If the 3800 rpm you are turning is taking almost full throttle you need to prop down quite a bit in pitch. It will make your engine last a lot longer even if it doesn't affect your fuel economy much.

At WOT the rpm sit at 5480 - The GPS says I'm doing 26/27 mph.

As of last weekend I had just over 100 hrs on her and the economy seems to be getting better. Maybe I just have to get a few more hrs on her. :/
