Just bought this motor and it runs great...two questions....first, is the mixture 50:1? I am running it a little heavier than that at the moment because it hasn't run in quite a while, but its a little smoky. Second, I tried to get the lower unit off to inspect/replace the impeller, but it would only drop down about 1/2" and then acted like it was stuck on something. I undid the screw in the shift rod at the bottom of the lower unit with no luck. Impeller seems to be working fine, but want to do a visual. Is there a trick I am missing??

With newer models, the shift shaft is jointed under the water pump intakes. Unscrew the joint and remove the tiny plastic cone under the upper fitting. A tiny screwdriver works nicely. Handle with care cuz those little buggers like to pop and fly. But yours may have a brass joint with two screws visible in the separation once the gearcase drops that inch or so.
