I was wondering how far you can go in say a 20 to 23 ft Cuddy down the Bahamas and beyond. Assuming a boat has 275 mile safe single leg range. Are there an adequate number of marinas to keep island hopping down? Is it possible to hop all the way through the Carribean islands if you pick the right weather for each leg?

I spent 2 yrs cruising in the Bahamas. Most of the time we were in the Exumas...a chain of approx 300 islands that is 125 miles long. You can take any 18'ob boat to all the Bahama Islands if you watch the weather. Summer is best for smooth water. Winter time would be dodging northers. The longest refueling stop would be maybe 60-100 miles and most within 25-50 miles.

Wow, that was a long time ago. Did you go? We're running over to the northern Abacos this summer...in a 25'cc outboard. Be there in one day from West Palm if the water is smooth.

The maximun distance between ports in the Northern & Central Bahamas is 100nm usually less. The Southern Bahamas is the only place you would have a problem. There refueling usually means taking a jerry can to the local gas station.
