steering connection trouble

I have purchased a 1973 rinker trihull with cable steering and no motor After finding a motor I connected everything and was checking everything out before taking to water. I found that steering cable broken and purchased a teleflex rack and pinion system . Problem is when connected the wheel has to turned opposite of direction . My buddy has same setup on his boat and his steers right. <br /><br /> Any help would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks in advance

i did the same thing one time...unbolt everthing an flip stem piece upside down of what you have now . an rebolt long rack part back together but this time it will be either on top or on bottom of stem .. whatever is opposite of... read the instrutions more carefully ,, i think it tells you ..or really look at the diagramm exactly..
