What software is used to make a .GIF

are you wanting to make an animated gif, or just covert a file?<br /><br />I played with gifanimator from www.download.com a while back, is only demo, but you can get the idea

gif test. Six frames cut down. Looks shakey because I didn't cut the gif image from the frame consistantly for all six frames. <br /><br />To make this I took snapshots from a video clip using Power DVD. Then cut out smaller images of the boat from the snapshots using PaintShop pro. Then bring in those six small jpg images into Banershop GIF animator. Took about an hour with no experience to do the below. I would like to make a smaller version that is smooth for my Avatar, but too many other important things to do first before playing. Isn't that the way it always goes? LOL!<br /><br />
