hydrolic steering

i have a 96 johnson 225 with hydrolic steering and i think i may need to add hydrolic fluid to it. i was wondering how i go about doing this. thanks

There should be a cap on the helm unless you have a 3 line Hynautic system. Then the fill is on the resivour.

i have the cap, but how do you know when it is full and do you just use power steering fluid? thanks

OK, you have a cap. Is it on the helm or a seperate resivour?

I would only use hydraulic seering fluid made for the system. Why take a chance? You also don't know what might happen if you mix different types of fluid.

do not mix the fluids, you need the correct oil for your steering it is a unique oil. what brand is your steering?
