I would like to buy the Hustler prop but how do I know which one I need? I have a 13x17 now I think, but I would like new one due to extreme wear and pitting on my old prop. Please Help.
Are there ways to ID your old prop to see the exact size?

Do a search and find out what you want this new prop to do better for you. There are many things to consider.

Re: 1987 125 Force Propeller?

I see that many 1987 125 Force owners recommend the Hustler prop HU1317AO w/ The Hub Kit number is Kit 1A. Is this the correct one? I am at 17" and happy I just need to replace a worn prop.

That's a stainless steel prop isn't. If you hit bottom it would mostlikely damage the internal gears and crack the foot. Aluminum ones my be a little less efficient, cost less to buy, but save the foot. File the nicks into a 1/2 moon and paint it. Buy a Comprop with 4 blades made from composite. But avoid steel. Get 17" cupped or 19" for speed, 15" for serious skiing or an allround 17".

The Hustler prop I mentioned is Aluminum but I want to stay Alum. and move up to a new prop I think Hustler is low cost I just want to know if its recommended for quality. My prop has a 15 on it and nothing else? Also Should I also get a cupped or uncupped prop?

Turning Point does not make a Hustler prop that will fit your motor. The props they make for Force are for 1995 models or newer.

Re: 1987 125 Force Propeller?

hope this helps from an earlier post

Bry21317
Captain
Member # 8049

posted June 11, 2002 10:25 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I purchased the Hustler prop from Boaters world. It is an Aluminum Prop, that is interchangeable. It is a two piece kit, Hub assembly and Prop that then slides onto the hub, this way you can change props easily. It was about $110 total. The hub is about $50 and the prop is about $59. But it was worth it. The Prop number you should need is HU1317AO, Make sure it has the O, there is an M for mercury, but that won't fit because Turning Point (Manufacturer) said that my 88 Force 125 had an OMC lower unit, so this is why you must use this prop. The Hub Kit number is Kit 1A.

You can check out their website to read about the props at http://www.turningpointpropellers.com/

For the money, they work very good. I had a Michigan Wheel prop on my boat before, and it would allow the boat to over spin the prop in turns, it now sticks tight in the water and I don't have to trim down around some sharp turns I had problems in before.

This engine seems to be running awesome now. I have a 19.5 bayliner with this engine on it. I am able to get up to about 40 or just a hair over with 3/4 tank of gas and me and another guy on the boat and all my tools so probably about 450 lbs in us two, hes 240, then my tools are about 75. I am running about 4800 RPMS now.

Hope this helps.

Bryan Cox

The web site I gave you is Phils prop shop that turning point told you about. He is also known as the propdok. He was very helpful & honest with me when I bought two hustlers from him a while ago.He even offered to send 2 new props when the originals took such along time to get here (postal problems I think the paddlers were on strike on the canoe they were sent on)Anyway he knows his stuff so give him a try.I think youll be impressed. :) :) I was.

87 125 hp on a 19' Bayliner Capri runs at proper rpm with a 17" prop. Try the Comprop.

Re: 1987 125 Force Propeller?

ssuajk,
I called Turning Point Props and a guy (I wish I had written down his name) told me for my 1987 125 hp Force I needed the HU1317AO with hub 1A. This would fit the larger gear case but you would need a special thrust washer. They (TPP) could not sell the prop and hub because they have dealers but could sell the washer directly. I was going to order one from iboats but this weekend I found a Michigan Match at a boat store so I bought it instead. Hope this helps.

Wow..."said that my 88 Force 125 had an OMC lower unit, so "...this is the weirdest thing I've heard about a Force 125hp outboard yet!

Re: 1987 125 Force Propeller?

just to let you know i have a bayliner trophy 1910
with a 1986 force 125 hp motor and i changed from a 19 pitch prop to a hustler 17 pitch and the rpms at wot run about 4900 to 5000 rpm by the orig. tachometer. the boat planes out faster and the top speed is around 35 or 36 mph.

Re: 1987 125 Force Propeller?

Guys lets not get carried away here.

The HUSTLER prop works fine on some of the older force motors.

I have 1 on mine and love it!

Now my prop is a 13x15 HU1315AO (it has less rake and will not hit the exhaust snout) and has the 1A hub (so it fits the lower units teeth). All props will fit that hub the OMC fits fine and clears the lower unit and exhaust.

>>>You need a slightly thicker thrust washer so the edge of the housing(prop) will clear the rear area of the lower unit.<<<

Thats all there is to it.

I got my setup at Phil's Prop shop waay before I found this site!

I believe there is a picture on the board here somewhere that I posted.

Here is a pic

Mark42 is stating that the props are going out of production I suggest you get a differnt porop now.

I hate that kinda thing. Turning point will not be my replacement prop if this ever gets dinged or turn up!
