  • The Chief is heavier with the stern drive, cabin and double windshields making it take a bunch of power to get over that magical 40 MPH hump but I only use it to cruise which it does incredibly well. The SS is my fishing boat and used just for that....

    Rotting floor

Has anybody had the plywood beneath the vinyl flooring begin to rot due to the well beneath the seat post baseplate holding water which never evaporates and consequently wicks into the plywood? What has your experience been in the warranty process with...

Thanks for taking a look at my Chief thread, it was a fun restore and now after the SS it's nice to having a break with 2 sweet SC boats to use.

Non vortec, oh man too bad, must be an early 90's long block.

Very nice job on the gellcoat !!
Maybe I could make a mold or a plug of the hard top and fabricate one for ya ... I would have to think about how to pull it off ... I'm sure it can be done somehow .

If they're the same as the ones on all the 60's and 70's big boats then I still have two of them in good condition. Go to the starcraft parts thread and look for the pic I posted and if it will work, send me a message.

2007 Sun Tracker Party Barge 18 repower

    Hello everyone,

I have a 2007 Party Barge 18 Signature and I love it. Only problem is that it only has a 25 HP Mercury 4 stoke currently on the boat.

Looking to repower it with a new Mercury outboard. Considering at 60 HP...

I don't think a 50 will do it when loaded. I had an issue with my 70 in which the remote box wasn't pulling the cable all the way to WOT, and it would barely plane after a minute or so trying with passengers on board.

    If you buy the boat...

Yeah that deck support stringer with the crack is an easy fix, stop drill the crack and patch over it to isolate the crack like you said. Once everything is replaced with new and solid it won't be an issue. The PO used the old gal with completely compromised...

It wouldn't be the first money pit I tried to fill. I'm looking for the two piece hatch that should be where the red contraption is in the center. The pads on top are not original and will be tossed. For a 43 year old boat it is surprisingly good...

  • My advice is to keep the Islander, stash it away out of her sight. For no more money than you'll get out of your dream boat why not? I have 2 SC boats, one cruiser for fun and a fishing boat. Take your time and restore her, you won't be sorry.

    Thanks gang,

Simple fix and thanks for the simple hints...sometimes it's just that easy. Future members and Googler's take note, at least on my setup, the 3d fuse is the radio, 5 amp fuse. That's the top row, 3d from the left (technically...
