New to the Zodiac world and am just looking for some advice on pulling the boat for a for a 500 mile road trip. Should I take the motor off transom for a trip of this distance? This is a 99 model Futura Mark II HD in excellent shape. Bunks on the trailer reach under transom but still a little worried a trip of this distance may cause some issues with the motor bouncing along the way. Should I keep motor down all the way or try to set up some sort of transom saver?
Motor is 30HP Johnson 2 stroke. A little over 100 pounds.
Thanks for any help for can provide.

Re: Zodiac-Transom-Do you take your motor off for long distance trips?

I carefully studied the owner's manual on my then-new Lund Alaskan about the same topic, but no mention of doing anything special for trailering, like a support stick to transfer motor weight to trailer. My conclusion was to just tilt the motor up/fwd and lock the tilt for trailering. This does move the center of gravity of the motor somewhere near or in front of the transom, to reduce moment trying to tear the transom out.
