I am considering a 95' VIP Stealth DX-190 with a Yamaha Vmax 150 and I'm wondering what I should look for. Were these boats known for wood rot issues or were they fairly well built? There isn't much information on them available so any insight is appreciated. Price is around 7400 which seems a little high for the year but its slim pickins in bass boats around here at the moment.
The current owner is a marine mechanic and has replaced a lot of stuff on the motor and had the boat recarpeted. Motor runs great and is incredibly clean for an 18 year old motor.
I am currently stuck with a boat I bought two years ago that needs a transom and I am scared of repeating that. Is rotten wood as common of an issue as it seems (boats in general) or is it just that you hear about the bad ones (and in my case got stuck with one)?
