Top speed on your VIP Boat???

I was just curious on how fast other VIP Boats are compared to mine... I was a little dissapointed with my test run today and I think something must be wrong. I have a 88 VIP 17' Skiboat (vision 1750 maybe) with a 89 Force 150 outboard. I thought this setup would go around 55MPH but I could only hit a weak 43 MHP with light chop on the lake. Does this sound slow? Does anyone else have a similar setup that can post boat/engine combination and top speeds? any info much appreciated....thanks

I have a 1989 Vantage 1850 with a 4.3L I/O. With a full tank of gas and two people I can hit right at 45 on GPS. My boat is a cuddy cabin and weighs in at about 2500 pounds.

I don't have your set up, but I have a Vision 1750, with 2 people and trimmed out light chop had it up to 38 and yesterday, moderate chop and 5 people trimmed out top speed of 30. As you can see I am not out to break any speed records.

My 2006 202 Vantage tops out at 55MPH with 2 people onboard. GPS speed BTW.

i hit 48 the other day 2 people on board, full tank of gas, trimmed out with a 3 blade prop

I can hit(on a good smooth water day) 50+ , with my 21'-6" bow rider/ 5.7 OMC / 19 pitch prop / 3500# with gear and wifey plus 2 kids...

I hit 59 on GPS in my 1989 2300 Vindicator. OMC 460 King Cobra with a 23p SST prop. 2 people and a half tank of gas.

VIP_FORCE - are you trimming properly?

I used to own a 1988 VIP Valiant with 4.3L and Cobra drive, somewhere around 180HP. With a full load of me, wife, three kids, gas, and gear, I could get 43MPH on a clear day when trimmed about halfway out. However, when trimmed all the way in, I would only get 35MPH.

1988 VIP CCF (17.5' center console), with an Evinrude 100, in some chop this weekend I was hitting about 35mph (GPS speed) on a plane at 50% power. We had 4 people and a half tank of gas. I didn't want to push faster at the time because of the chop and the spray. Later that day around the back side of a small island, with just two of us and a little over a quarter tank of gas, I hit 46mph at almost full power. I imagine it could do just under 50 under the right conditions.

I have 3 different speed indicator on my Bay Stealth. Lowrance GPS, Paddle Wheel Speed Sensor and the stock digital speedo. All three reads different plus/minus 7 mph while I'm underway.

I have an '89 VIP Valiant SS 1850 with a 4.3L Mercruiser and OMC Cobra I/O.

I hit 45MPH according to the stock speedometer with my wife and two kids.

That 46mph I hit on the maiden voyage was a fluke on the GPS. My top speed is just under 40 in perfect conditions, but it generally runs around 36.

I don't have GPS, but according to my ultra-accurate stock speedometer, I can hit right around 44 mph in mine on relatively smooth water.

- 1990 VIP Vision I/O (19 ft.)
- OMC Cobra 175 HP.
- Full tank of gas
- Two adults in the boat
- No idea what pitch my prop is (it came w/ the boat)

my speedo hasnt worked since the day i got my boat...its digital and all the fuses are good so must be a prob somewhere else. I will say i had a pretty chipped prop and replaced it 2 weeks ago (14" 19p) and can tell a HUGE difference.

1982 VIP Kona 18 jet 455 Olds top speed... can't say it cuz of insurance but it has a 7 and a 6 in it ....

I have a 1990 VIP Vision 1750 with a 2.3L OMC. With my 2 kids, dog and a rotten transom i was showing 38mph on my gps...I am working on rebuilding it now.
