Well after trying to find some info on my VIP I find this. Glad to know there are other VIP owners out there. I got mine about a year ago from the original owner, it's a 1987 CC.

Not sure what the difference between the VIP 180 CCF Center Console and 180 CCSF Center Console is but everything I can find points me to this.

It's been a project getting her back into good shape, still a long way to go, but from what I can tell it's a solid boat.

Re: My VIP Boat

Hey there others out there that owns VIP center consoles?. I've searched on several sites looking for other owners with no luck.

Hows about other VIP owners posting a pic of their boat here and a little backgound about it???

I bought my 2001 VIP CC BayStealth 1880 in Jan of this year from the original owner that bought it in San Antonio then moved here in CA. I was a little concern about the free board being so much lower than my previous CC but after taking out on the bay, it really surprised me on how stable it is and how it takes the waves/wake so well.

Since buying it, I've bought and installed a Fishmaster T-top and a Lowrance 10" FF/GPS. Great boat that I'm very satisfied with ;)

Here's a pic taken when I first brought it home

Here's the most recent pic with the T-top. What a difference that T-top makes :)

Re: My VIP Boat

Hello all...new owner of a 1988 VIP 180 CCF with a 1988 Evinrude 100...just bought it yesterday. It really is in great shape for being 21 years old, and I can't wait to get it out on the water. I don't have any pics yet, but I'll be sure to post some when I get them. The previous did a great job taking care of it, and except for a few minor things its in great shape. The only thing that really concerns me is the dry out I noticed on battery hatches and the rings in the rod holders, but this is minor.

Any advice for a new 88 VIP owner is always appreciated!

Re: My VIP Boat

This could be the only place on the net to find other VIP owners...Bought an 88 17.5' VIP last weekend with a '93 Johnson 60hp on the back. Haven't gotten it in the water yet - but can't wait to. Is anyone aware of how the livewell/washdown pump/s are wired or accessible? I haven't been able to find any documentation on this boat.

I can't see the pics at work, I'll have to remember to check at home, but is it a center console? If so, the pump should be in the bottom of the console, forward, and should be wired to the switch panel on the console.

Re: My VIP Boat

Sorry guys I don't have this picture thing down yet but that?s my girl. I have had her out about 12 or 15 times both on small lakes and big. I have had her in 4 or 5 foot chop & I am amazed at how well she took it. She cruises well in the 30's & I have had her up to 51 on the gps. Most of all I am so happy not to have any carpet in my boat just hose her down and the blood, chips, and sand are gone. I can?t wait to take back east and get her first taste of salt.

Re: My VIP Boat

I have recently purchased a 1996 Stealth VIP DX200 Bass Boat. I have owned Rangers, Hydrosports, ProCraft and I am very please with this boat. I bought this boat from the original owner and it is in excellent condition. Covered and garage kept all the time. Runs great with the 200 HP Yamaha and I have not really had it opened up yet. (about 4800 is all I want to be confortable)

Does anyone out there know how much of this boat is wood and if the transom is synthetic or wood covered with fiberglass?

Thanks

Re: My VIP Boat

When I bought mine I got as much info I could, which isnt much, but here it is.

These boats were and still are made in Vivian, LA. They're now under the name Caddo Manufacturing, named after the Parish they're in.

http://www.caddoboats.com/

I managed to get a hold of an old brochure some time back...
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn104/nola000/Oldbrochurecoverforboat.jpg

FuriousMob...Just replace the plastics. The old stuff dry rots. Replacements arent too expensive and it gives you the opportunity to make the openings bigger. Just be careful how big you go and where because you can compromise the rigidity of the boat. I plan on pulling my rod holder and spraying it down with white bed liner.

Ray White...I bought a Teleflex NFB SH4920 Helm with dual steering cables for I think around $300. If you plan on upgrading to the max allowed 150HP on these boats then you are going to need the dual cables anyway.

jwb5555...The older ones were definitely fiberglass-wrapped wood transom, stringers, console, etc. The newer ones have no wood in them. Im not sure when they made the transition. I want to say maybe in the late 90's. I remember reading about it. 1996, 1998 comes to mind.

I finally have a place to restore my 180CC. Its a complete tear down. When Im done Ill post pictures.
