advice on aluminum flooring/decking

I"m redoing an 86 Bass tracker, http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=527292 and there is the link to my build. Who here has gone with aluminum flooring? I'm considering going the aluminum route but am wondering what thickness i should use any help would be appreciated.

Aluminum covered in carpet or just aluminum as in diamond plate? I went with exterior grade plywood in my 1990, painted the side not covered in carpet but don't remember what I used right off. Seems to be doing well but only have one season on it so far. Also I only paid $300 for the boat and trailer so even if I had to replace the flooring every 5 years it would be worth it, especially since its so easy.

Only problem you might have is anything that bolts, rivets or screws to the floor and sides of the boat may not line up. I know my console would not have lined up properly if I lost over 1/2" off the floor. You could make it work though with a little more work.
