2004 Q7 Wakeboard tower

Hello,

I have a 2004 Tahoe Q7 and am planning on installing a wakeboard tower this spring. Does anyone know how to get the front seat backs off? I am assuming I'll need to remove the seat backs to correctly brace and secure the front tower mounts. I tried lifting upwards but they don't seem to want to budge. Wanted to see if there was a trick before I break something.
