Re: Post Pics of Your Tahoe and Upgrades!

Ok this was my next upgrade...

It looks like the SkegGuard is not all the way up on the skeg...but it would not go up any farther and when I look in from the bottom of the SkegGuard where the drain slot is I can see the bottom of the skeg right at the bottom. This will definitely help keep the skeg protected from scrapes and of course if it hits anything. (Like a floating log etc.) It would also be a repair for the bottom of a damaged skeg and thus allow the boat to track straight as well.

For mine it was 27031 - Alpha 1 Generation II 1991-2013

I really like how it looks and am glad it will protect the skeg. (especially from those times when someone forgets to raise the outdrive when pulling the boat out of the water )

Happened to me a few times. My previous boats were with outboard motors and I can visually see that the motor was up. But with a I/O, it's out of sight out of mind. Now, I religiously make sure that it's up before I start up the ramp. I also pause for a moment as soon as the boat is out of the water to remove the drain plug as I tow the boat up the steep ramp to drain the water.

Yes I have do the same thing everytime I pull the boat out of the water. It was my better half that did not put up the drive one time.

I noticed that you have your transducer mounted behind your outdrive. how is that working out for you? I have mine epoxied to the bottom of my engine bay, it worked ok. bit I think I would get better sensitivity if I j put it on the transom. Was it difficult to drill the hole for the cable? what sixe bit did you have to use? I have the 2010 Q7 S&F.

I have , in the past , have heard that awful scraping sound up the boat ramp.. I ended up having to get a skeg saver.

Thanks BrownSkull, just trying to keep this ol' boat looking great. My next upgrade will def be a keel guard, Ive scraped it on the ramp once or twice.

What type of wax is best for gelcoat?

I too like the tower. Your setup looks great. My boat is a 2004 black & white Q4 was wondering what a tower would look like on it.

I like Meguiars Brand Boat wax. It has worked good.

This was taken about a year after we bought her. My wife is driving and a family friend is along as spotter.
