I have a Q3 (262CID Mercruiser I/O) that porpoises something fierce. I've noticed that it seems to retain water and I'm wondering if there are any known tricks to get it to divest itself of the extra movable weight?

I've also see that a number of people say that some of these boats simply need smart tabs - what's the consensus there?

you need tabs, I suggest Bennetts

as for the extra water, you are pulling the plug after every use, correct?

Bennets, as opposed to Smart Tabs? I see lots of glowing reports :)

Yes, I pull the plug after each use - the boat had been in the side yard for some time before using yesterday and I put the plug in at the house (not the landing). I won't make that mistake again, I'll bring my crescent wrench with me next time!

I have a Q4 SF. I was getting water in through the fill line to the live well. Not much, but I had to run the bilge pump regularly. I tightened up the fittings and it stopped.
