Hey All,

New to the forum (been lurking for quite some time) and new (to me) Tahoe owner. I recently purchased a 2005 Tahoe Q6 FS with the Mercruiser 5.0 MPI and Bravo 1. So far VERY happy with the performance of both the boat and engine (After trim tabs were installed). My question is this...At WOT, which I had to try to see what my new boat did, I was ready GPS speed of 51 MPH. that is about what I would expect. However, the tach was reading over 6000 RPM. Tach shows idle around 800 which I believe is normal, and 3000 RPM runs about 30-32 MPH, which I believe is also about right. I have a 19 pitch SS prop. Is it even possible to attain 6000 RPM? Or do I have a faulty tach? Does my engine have an RPM limiter on it, and if so, does that go off the tach (which should have triggered it in this case) or off the computer?

I did purcahse one of those $15 tach/hour meters off ebay so will check against that when installed but thought I would post the question here as well. Thanks for any responses!!
