I am making progress on my 1958 Starcraft Jet Star project. One issue I had as missing logos... I was able to make a mold using the one good logo I had and found a company, Reynolds advanced material, that has a molding and liquid plastic that worked great...

Very nice, and thanks for the link so others with vintage S/C's can do the same.

Here is the link to the products I used. https://www.reynoldsam.com/store/checkout/cart/

That link doesn't point to the actual product you used, but the pix you posted shows the label for Smooth Cast:

Which Smooth Cast system did you use?

And a release agent:

Ease Release 200

The red logos look GREAT!

How did you make the mold? Use the same liquid urethane and the release agent to create a negative mold from the original part?

Then apply release agent to the newly made mold and pour a positive logo?

Sorry, here is more detail.
I made the mold using Mold Star 15 - product is here: http://www.reynoldsam.com/product/mold-star/

I made a box using disposable tupperware, glued the logo to the bottom, then used Mold Star 15 to pour the mold. Here is the tutorial video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HyVCVfZ_g8

I used Smooth Cast 300 to make the logo after I made the mold. The 300 product is the most liquid of the products so flows nicely. I sprayed ease release 200 into the mold before pouring. Here is a video:

Just search for "smooth on" on youtube.

It only took two attempts before I started making really nice logo's. The Smooth Cast 300 dries in 3 minutes so have to pour fast but steady.

One challenge to overcome is painting the finished product. The Smooth On website: http://www.smooth-on.com/faq.php has loads of information and videos. The website said that after you spray the ease release into the mold to sprinkle it with baby powder to allow the casted logo to take paint easier. I tried this but it did not work out at all, logo came out clumpy. The solution I used was also found on that web site. This issue is the ease release, you have to get that off before you can prime/paint it or the paint just rolls off. I used a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol to get the ease release off, then I washed in soap and water.. Bingo, the paint sticks! Let me know if you have any questions.

another tip... Use a woman's metal nail file to clean up the logo after it comes out of the mold, works great

That came out pretty darn nicely.. I wonder if you could add coloring to the 300 prior to pouring?

They also sell a UV stabilizing agent that can be added.

I only read a little before leaving the office, but it appears UV stabilization and colorant can be added by percentage of total weight of product to be mixed.

Like that site better then the place I've seen people order casting materials from before.

I just called and talked to tech support. I am going to try casting them in color. Here are the products they said should work. Will update you all next week after I attempt. Love the idea of casting in color and avoiding the whole painting step.
UVO 9 Pack Color Sampler Tube,Smooth-Cast 325 - Trial Size

The tech said I need to switch to Smooth-Cast 325 vs the 300 I was using to use the UVO color additive. The 300 product is a solid white where the 325 is more transparent. He said my pour time would be about the same.

Is there anything you can add to the back of the casting to make them less likely to break/crack? Like fiberglass mesh tape or similar?

Looking forward to seeing the new castings outta the mold?
