One rivet missing in stern I bucked up a few loose rivets in the stern. I,m sure the corrosion is from the battery sitting without being in a box. Some of the pits are deep. This boat has been on rollers going to make bunks. Its getting close to scrap time

I was bored today and being such a great day I went to town. Now going to flip the boat over and epoxy with west system. I also will clean and do Gluvit inside after the west systems.I hope that this will be good.Transom is going to be problem have to drive 200 miles to get good plywood. That sure adds the cost to doing these things.

Scrap? The pitting doesn't look that bad and there isn't anything that can't be repaired from what I see.

Got new transom done and painted. I put my old 18hp Evinrude on the boat and took her for a spin. Was on the water about 2 hours and when we got back on the trailer I had less than 1 quart of water. I think most of the water was from me and the dog climbing in.(no dock) just beach launching. I dont see anything .I,m going to gluvit tomorrow if the weather holds. I think the drain plug needs to be replaced. The 18 pushed it along at 23mph.Not bad This will be fun boat

See - A couple of days ago you were about to turn her into beer cans. Yesterday, you put a motor on her and put her in the water. I think you will be be spending more time on the water with her. I bet you looked like this :D.

I didn't see any deal breakers in the pics. You have an old, repairable tinny that can be a lot of fun, TC.

How can I clean paint off the old rubber molding that goes between the windshield and the boat. It has globs of old paint on it.I just dont want to ruin it. I tried a small blotch with paint stripper but the rubber seams to melt . Washed it off good I was going to try a scraper not sure about that.

Try some acetone and a wire brush (tooth brush sized) to lightly scrub it.

When I removed the PT wood there was no foam in the hull. And thanks for the tip about acetone.I did get most of the rubber cleaned of old paint, Rained all day here sat watching videos on rebuilding old boats on you tube and cleaned the rubber for windshield The new floor will be in tomorrow if the sun shines at all.

You think it's fun with the18 hp you want to see it run with a 60hp on it.Perfect size motor for that boat.

Foam yes now for foam.I was wondering if anyone had tried plastic coke bottles.I was thinking large coke bottles the caps sealed with 4200 or crazy glue. They hold air and pressure. They would be light weight and easy to find.If they where held under the floor they would also be a shock absorber between the hull and flooring. I also wonder about this 40hp rating. I have thought about it and have looked at other boats.I think 40hp is a ton for power for this boat. The transom looks very weak for a 60hp motor.

Pink or blue foam insulation boards work best.
Does you boat have the center stringer? The original foam matched the center stringer, 8' long 1.5" tall at the rear and 4.5" tall at the front and 6" wide. I made mine from 3 layers of 2" foam next to that was a piece of foam 8' long 10" wide and 1.5" thick. I added 1" thick foam in between the ribs. Then under the floor under the bow was filled with various scraps of foam.

Yes the center stringer is there. It was bent at the stern but I did get it fixed. Rained the last 2 days here.I hope to get back at it on Mon. Today and tomorrow is the Port Elgin Pumpkin Fest great car show and big squash.
