My biggest concern with my new Nova project is the existing bow eye. It's had some obvious repair done and looks to have leveraged the factory eye with a couple less screws. I'll eventually be stripping or sanding the hull down and hitting it with new paint after inspecting the rest of the hull for needed repairs, but I'm wondering what direction I should go with this.

Do I leave it as is and just replace all the bolts?

Would the welding have compromised the integrety of the hull?

Do I attempt secure the eye by a different means? Replace all together?

Doesn't quite look to be all that secure to me, at least for it's intended purpose.

The welding looks good just replace the bolts with stainless steel hardware.

That's some good AL welding. On mine the eye is riveted on, but stainless is better than the rusty crud you have now. Use a sturdy backing plate and you will be good to go.
