November 14th 2012 I started this post! I am confident to say that this is its first official SPLASH!!!!! This is the first time she has ran in those 5 years. I know, I did not get a video, it was a litle hard being the only one on the boat.

Note the hours, this motor cost me $500.00. That's five hundred!

Didn't you say the tach wasn't working? Did the hour meter change any when you had it out?

The tach was not hooked up. The motor, from what I have read, the motor feeds the tach. On other words, if I were to hook this up to a 200 hour motor, it should read 200 hours.

Sorry, yes the tach went from 24 to 27 hours.

With just myself she hit 32 but I did not have the tach hooked up so I did not want to push it. With 5 people yesterday, we hit 27 maxing out at 5400 rpm. I'd say she does well! I'm happy with those numbers, any faster, no mater what boat your on, things get sketchy.

Yeah you're right about the sketchyness, for instance my 18' SS V5 with the 140 Merc starts getting wobbly over 40 and especially at 45 MPH if you skip across a boat wake, it's due to the deadrise in the hull I'm guessing. I much prefer 30 - 35 for cruising then nothing bothers it. Also it takes an huge amount of power to propel these boats over 40 due to the hull design, it's not worth the cost in fuel or outright cash for the purchase.

You did good with that 50 horse purchase. :thumb:

Awesome. These boats take very well to being "underpowered." I'm at 50% of max rated HP and I can get up and cruise mid 20's with 4 people, 4 batteries, a kicker, and 25 gallons of fuel. It's worth the pounding you take in rough water with these hulls.

Agreed, I had a 26ft searay and was content going 25 in lake saint clair. It's a large shallow lake that kicks up 4 footers in seconds. I'm happy with that speed on that size craft!

Got a few looks up and down the lake today. I have been waiting for those. In an area where 25+ foot glasses are your everyday cruiser, when people see an oldy like this, they have to double take!

The wife and I had a great sunset cruise up and down the river. We had a guest waiting to greet us when we go home! Tried to get a video of it diving for fish but just missed it.
