Road trip day is here, leaving at 730 so we can cross the Border into the US when they open at 900. Barring any problems we should be on Gibbles door step about 800 tonight. Gotta love the call of distant tin. Looking forward to meeting you in person Chris.

I didn't know we lock the doors to you Kanucks at night. Is there a subliminal or not so subliminal message in there? Is "The Call Of Distant Tin" a Nelson Eddy song? Travel safe. Awaiting a trip and tinny report. :D

Hey Gibbles - While Dozer is still dozing :))) you have to fill us in on this guy that's robbing us blind. Taking all the good tin North to the frozen tundra with a six week boating season. Maybe only six days this year. :smow: Hurry before he crawls out of the cave.

Okay, I gotta start this post out with a HUGE THANKS to Gibbles and his wife. It was great to meet the both of you, and see the effects of MBS:D just kidding. Sorry we didn't have more time to spend with you.
Trip back was interesting to say the least, rain, snow so hard it was hard to see and fog. Then a "Young" Canadian Border Guard that thought he knew more than me about bringing an old Starcraft into Canada. (sure showed him)
But now all is well and the V5 is home and I even filled my dumpster with the contents. Wow they even used MDF for seat structure.

And before the mob comes out the necessary photos. I would have taken some of the trip home but it was dark and raining.

I guess the story is the Father passed and left the boat to the family, they started a restore way back, then covered the boat with a blue poly tarp years ago. Needless to say after a couple years in the hot Utah sun the tarp became useless and the elements have taken there toll.

More, Filling the dumpster

And under the mess and extra sheet of PT ply a really nice in floor 25 gal aluminum tank in great condition.

Oh ya and on the way home this morning I spotted a real nice mid 70's 18 SS I/O just ripe for a restore only 4 hours from home, but it will mean taking another piece of tin out of the US GA:lol:

You two made a good team! Gib got the Chrysler and DII got the SS and a sleepless night. The sun sure ate the hockey stick, didn't it? Glad the trip is over and no drama. Do tell about the Border Guard though, sounds interesting.

I'm up for another trip report. But only after the 201 hits the water. :D

I think Gib is mailing the Chrysler to DII. Sorta like Radar O'Reilly mailing a Jeep home from Korea. In pieces.

Thanks Drew but no splash on this one this year.

It's got a little damage to the rubrail on the starboard side, but I think it can be fixed.

The young cocky Border guard wave us on to his window, asks what we bought and I said the boat and trailer. He says I'll need the title for the trailer, I says Utah doesn't require titles for trailers under 750 lbs, He says we will see about that!!!!! Park over there and bring in your paper work. When we got in he was a little less cocky and said you were right but the rest of the paper work better be right..
If I've learned one thing about bringing boats and trailers into Canada it is do your homework on the State you are importing from, and have all your ducks in a row.

Congrats Dozer & Gib on teaming up to save a great looking hull.....

Thanks jb, I'm planning on an Evinrude or Johnson 115 or 120

GA, I think Gib is pretty happy with the old Chrysler is looks in real nice shape. He was just finishing a motor stand for it and I think we may get a report on how it runs from him in the near future.

One more thing, I will have to edit the title for the thread, from the HIN# STRE77140479 F9 this is not a 77 but a 79. Are not the last two numbers before the F9 the year of production and the 77 is the design year.
