Nice Glen!

Hey, I just noticed those photos of your boat work up on the wall there, great inspiration for the task(s) at hand huh? :thumb:

Thanks Jason, ya I like having the pictures up on the wall. I just wish Clarke would follow through and get the SOTY here before it has to be sent on to someone else. It would look nice up next to the Naked Lady.

Awesome! That porta-potty situation is great. I wish I had gotten a larger bimini for mine.

Thanks EZ, I wish they made a ten footer.

That porta potty solution is awesome. You're def your showing your feminine side with all that sewing skill.

Just a thought....some detachable fabric sides for the Bimini would be awesome also. They would block a lot of sunlight if at times, you wanted complete shade under the Bimini.

Feminine side, you obviously don't know me. That's a good idea you have for side curtains even if they were only short like a sunvizor, would help a lot.

The Admirals Sitting Room - Nice touch. :) Looks like you're getting to the final item on the punch list, waiting for soft water.

Thanks GA, just got through another weekend of snow storms and cold-10c this morning.

Really Nice boat. She should last you a LONG time.

Thanks DH, I hope so.

Hey Glen buddy.... as always awesome work man! You are an inspiration to us all. Your work shows not just how well it can be done but what can be done in many, many cases!

Love the low profile tires, the bimini and the doody room! It can't be long now before you stop plowing and starting splashing!

So... gotta ask... what's happening to the "little" boat???? Staying? Going? :)

Re: 1986 ss 201

Last of the Bimini top, I tried to explain this idea without pictures and I don't think I was successful. Anyone that has fished with the top up knows the rear straps can really get in the way when your trying to land a fish. I did this on the Naked Lady and it works awesome, not only nothing in the way when landing a fish but the top is more stable side to side when under way cuz of the crossed straps.

This is the normal straps for the top.

Using some left over straps and buckles from old boat covers, (always cut them off and save them) I add 4 snaps 12"s either side of center to the rear apron on the top.

I also add two extra stainless top anchors either side of center on the rear deck cover to accept the new straps. On an O/B version you can just use snaps on the vertical rear face of the splash well.

And this is how wide one it leaves the sides for fishing.

In my opinion this should be an option on all Bimini tops.

Thanks Jim, don't know about a splash the way the weather is going maybe the end of next month:eek:

The 72 SS is being sold to my BIL, so it is not going far away.

Hey Glen just awesome, tires and wheels look great, really good idea on porto and the bimini top straps, did you buy the bimini or did it come with the boat, going to buy one for my boat, looked on the site you mentioned in Quebec, they have pretty reasonable prices. guess you're almost ready for the splash, I see your weather is like ours lousy, but going to be in the pluses this weekend and next week so hopefully I can get a few things done also. You're going to be bored till the water gets soft now that you're almost done, do you have another project in mind??

All great stuff happening w/ the bimini, privacy curtain turned out great. Adding the privacy curtain side walls is a great idea too.

Excellent. Hope those low profile tires are speed rated, when the soft water shows up again, it'll be full speed ahead

Thanks John, the top came from the place in Quebec, top quality and good price. No other project yet but I'm looking.

Thanks JB, ya the tires are rated for 140 mph, but who knows if soft water is coming this year.

Glen, Great idea for the bimini attachment. Better for fishing and IMO, better for getting in and out of the boat. I am always concerned about getting clothes lined or tripping over the straps.

Always good to have trailer tires rated for a higher speed than one's truck can go! :)

I'm with you there Jim, they weren't thinking about fishing when they designed the strap set up. I'm pretty sure my GMC would never keep up to the boat trailer!!

So that Bimini is 8' long? Any chance we can get a straight on side pic? How tall is it from the floor and from the gunnels? I was planning on an 8'er as well....

Hey DJ, yup 8'long and 8'wide the height from the gunwals is 54", It is a little high but the next size down is 36"to 48" which would be too low. I got it all put away right now and just leaving on a business trip till Friday. I would of likes to get a 10'long one but then you have to get into the big square tube pontoon tops and the price goes through the roof.

Re: 1986 ss 201

Motor is in, wiring is figured out, trim works the way it is supposed to finally. New water pump is installed. Waiting for a new ign coil, and a transducer swtich for the Humminbird, The Minnkota has a built in transducer, and I have the one to go on the transom. I thought I was going to have to unplug one and then plug the other in, when not using the TM.

Down to the short list now.

Finish the trim over the seam in the floor vinyl as well as around the cup holder opening in the dog house. Done

Anchor the lower section of the dog house Done

Install and wire the batteries for the trolling motor.

Install the Humminbird. Almost done still waiting for parts

Anchor the rear seat storage boxes.

Install the bimini top and make the privacy curtain for the Porttopotty. Done

Secure the trim around the bow floor storage. Done

Install the new tires on the trailer once they arrive. Done

Install the horn. Still waiting for it

WHEW. :target:

So are we going fishing or what :) Awesome restore from start to finish so time to catch some fish. Let me know anytime your heading west and I'll be there. I found a retired guide that would like to tag along for fishing in the Nelson BC area for those huge rainbows. He has pics of 100's of fish in the 10-20 lb mark so he knows how and where to catch them.

Slave lake is an option for something closer or recommend something in Sask and I'll head on down.

PS Did you buy your truck tires in the US as I'm looking at doing the same if I can catch a deal. Also what did the bimini work out to from Quebec as we have to get off the lake early last couple of times from baking too much in the sun.

No such luck GA I had to file a claim with Paypal on the supplier for the Humminbird switch and extention. But I do have the Batts, boxes cable and misc to install the Minnkota.

Thanks B2, funny you should say that, the handle comes from quading in the muskeg behind my Father who is dozer hence I'm II

Thanks Sprinst, I will be heading to Edson with the SS for July long for a family reunion, then on to Slave lake that Sunday for a week. My Bro has a site at Girard will be staying with him. I can PM you more details as the date gets closer.

I bought the tires at Walmart in the States I think the price was real good, Goodyear Wranglers installed balanced, plus a full synthetic oil change on the truck for $723.00. I will not boat in the summertime with out a Bimini top ever again, my lily white skin turns bright red way to fast. I can send you a link to there site if you like, great service awesome quality and the shipping is only $24.00, I just went to there site and got a quote for an 8'long
84" wide top made with top of the line Sunbrealla and it is $359. That is the size I hae on my 18 SS and it gives you good shade. I also go with 56" height so your not ducking under it all the time.
