I couldn't resist it found it super cheap and it seemed interesting. I can make out the year it was made by the serial number it is a 1958 just not sure of the model. I will post up some pics.

Speed Queen came in a 14ftr, so if it matches the 58 Speed Queen specs, it could be a Speed Queen:

I'd like to see a pix of the Ser# ID'ng it as a 1958. Don't recall other ser# being posted as an aid to ID'ng a year..

Congrats on adding another interesting Tinny to the tin fleet

BTW: a 55hp seems a tad much for a small 14ftr narrow tinny

Yeah the 55 on that boat was too much my deep c is rated for a 60 so that motor may be better suited. I will see if I can get a pic of the tag. Heck I just bought the boat because I like the from seat layout figured I could use it as a patter to do something like that in my alumacraft.

Yeah I tried lifting the info off the tag using the pencil rub method nothing clear enough to be read.

Do tell, what's the plan for this old treasure?

If you can get a rub off the tag, StarCraft Serial numbers first two digits are the year of manufacture. I am lucky enough that my Seafarer has a fairly intact data plate. I did copy all that info into a new USCG data tag that is on the boat. When the original tag came off (don't ask), I decided to keep it with the registration and stuff onboard. Keeps the history traveling with the boat. If a rub off doesn't work, try a softer lead pencil across the tag itself. Wipe off the graphite and you may get enough coverage to see the data. Also, if you can get the tag off without damage, do a rubbing on the reverse. The punched in data often shows well that way, just in reverse. At least you can determine things that way.

I tried a rub yesterday but the only pencil I could find was a carpenters pencil and that was unclear, I think I could make out a 58 in that serial number but not certain, In the big picture it really does not matter much the boat won't see water in 2016.

I think I may try to buff the bow and seat tops to see if I can brighten them up a touch, try to buff the windshield and take it from there, the existing motor has to come off it is too large. Then again the transom does not have a pucker or crack or missing a rivet.

Any idea on what kind of wood was used? It looks like mahogany or redwood? I may try to sand or plane the existing wood on the seats.

My bet would be mahogany, never heard of SC using anything else.

Couple of questions. What would you call that seat bracket? I am sure they can be purchased but not sure of the proper name

I'm not sure you can find a similar seat bracket sold retail.

That trim is called rub rail and you'll have difficulty trying to find similar but looking around and learning what's out there is the way to gain more knowledge about these old boats.
