Hi guys, first off I'm new here and this is my first post. I grew up around boats, and prefer to think I am somewhat mechanically inclined. I just picked up a 1973 SRV200, and the starter is junk, and needs a new distributor. My question is do I need a marine distributor, or can I just get a replacement from autozone, I guess the same question goes for the starter also. Any recommendations of specific items or places to buy would be great too. Thanks in advance for any help,

SeaRay made the wood and fiberglass hull etc. As far as engine parts, you'll be better served to figure out if the drive system is OMC, Mercruiser, Volvo Penta etc and post in the appropriate forum area for those powerplants- best with model and serial # of engine, but at least a pic if unsure.

but generally, yes - starter and alternator, ignition and fuel system are all marine specific SAE J1171 regulations apply in the enclosed bilge area of a boat.
