Not sure if too many people frequent here, but I found a hull with trailer for around $1000. No motor. The boat is located about 100 miles from me so I havent seen it in person yet. I would like to know what to look for in a hull that is a serious sign of troubles ahead. How can you tell if the foam is water logged? Colors, soft spots, or anything that would set an alarm off if you were to buy it. He says its still original paint, but Im not sure Id be able to tell.
Also, in an attempt to save money, and forego problems with motors in the future, I decided to try and get a cheap 13-14ft hull, with a trailer. Instead of buying a 2005+ boat, I would simply pay the $4-5000 on an engine from Bass Pro new. Would this be a good idea, and do you think this is a good way to get a boat that lasts?
Thanks.
