I'm rebuilding my 1998 lund 1650 Angler the transom was shot it even was pitting through the transom skin. Water logged foam ! I have removed the foam sanded the aluminum filled the pits and holes , have my new transom built . There was some sort of yellowish goo on the aluminum under all the foam it kept the aluminum from pitting there . The only pitted parts was where the wet wood was against the aluminum. What was this yellow goo ? What do I treat the aluminum with before I refill with pour in foam ? I'm using etching primer on the bare aluminum , can I use the etching primer under the foam or maybe marine tex ? Thanks I have been taking pictures and will post the whole project this place has been all to helpful with this whole project.
