Got an new unit from builder but it seems to be about .5 to.75 inches too long to fit in tank. Supplier said the #5 sending unit was the correct one and thinks my tank has sunk in the middle. Can I use longer screws to pull top of tank up to base of the sending unit and gasket? If I can, then I will replace the longer screws one at a time with the supplied screws. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Not the best idea in the world as you will have the fuel sender in contact with the bottom of the tank and begin to wear a hole in the bottom of the tank . . . possibly maybe.

Does your fuel tank look like it sank down in the middle????

If this is the tube type of sender, I believe that they can be shortened with a little custom modification. Alternately, you could do some research and get the next smaller tube, if it were a couple inches shorter.

Do you know which brand of sender it is (VDO maybe ?)
