As my last foray into purchasing a boat went adrift, I've since renewed my efforts and have come across a 1974 V-187 stern drive with a Volvo Penta engine. Asking price is $950 for boat and trailer. The carbs have been rebuilt and the engine gone through. The floor has also been replaced, though appears to need sealed to the walls (I have yet to go look at it in person since it's two hours away). The seller indicates the trim has never worked since he owned the boat. Is there anything special I should be looking for in this boat? I don't mind putting work into something but would like to know what I'm getting into. I don't mind odd projects but since this is for the family different rules apply. Any ideas on what the boat (and trailer) might weigh? I've seen numbers all over the 'net but you all know how that is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
