1955 Duracraft Project

New to this forum. My wife and I just bought our latest aluminum 'project' (we've just about finished a 1952 Airstream restoration). She's a 1955 Duracraft 14' runabout that came with a tilt trailer. Body is solid; appears to have most all her original hardware. Currently shopping for a motor. Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard nsejaw! That is one cool looking boat! I collect & repair vintage motors for a hobby and have been looking for a boat like that at a decent price for a while now, good eye!

If that were mine I would put my '59 Gale 35hp on it. Is there a OBC plaque on the inside of the transom that says what the max horsepower recommended is? I think with the steering forward as it is a 35hp would be fine, but I bet an old 18hp would plane her out nicely too.

Any chance that we can get some more pictures of the boat? Here are a few pictures of the Gale I was talking about:

If I had that boat I'd be really tempted to get a '57 Johnson 25hp since they came with a red and white cowling similar to a '57 chevy

That boat is sweet I love how the stern corners angle down. Some more pics would be great as mentioned. Good luck with the project

Could not find an OMC plaque stating max HP; we're thinking 20-35 HP would be the way to go...now we're torn between a vintage motor or a new 4 stroke....?...$...?...$...uploading more photos. Thanks for your input. She is a sweet boat.
