Delay & bang when outdrive goes into gear

I have a 2004 Cobalt 240. I just had it into the Cobalt dealer for a full tune, oil change, outdrive service... the whole 9 yards. After a short run, I notice that periodically when I pull up on the tab under the throttle cable to put it in gear... and push the throttle forward (expecting it to immediately engage), it delays engagement...and the motor rev's for a couple seconds, and then it bangs into forward. Before the service was done, once you pulled up on the tab under the throttle and pushed forward, it immediately engaged. No engine rev, no bang. Hmmmm.... This doesn't appear to happen with reverse (but I haven't exhaustively tested this in reverse.) Is this just an adjustment? Any advice? I really do not want to take this back to the dealer prematurely and have the boat sit for the next four weeks in their backlog.
