I just bought my first boat. I'm not new to boating, I've just never owed one myself. A buddy at work had originally purchased the boat with his father, who sadly passed away in the middle of their rebuilding project. I got one hell of a deal on the boat with a lot of the major work already completed. They put $8k in having the stringers, floor and transom rebuilt and glassed. The outer hull is in pretty good condition but the top paint was done in an automotive paint, but it is decent for now. It also came with new vinyl and foam for the interior already sewn and ready to be mounted to the ply. I will need to rebuild the cheap plastic dash, I'm figuring a nice wood dash will be in order. The engine is in place and he said it was fired about a year ago and then drained of all fluids. The DP out-drive is sitting in the back, so I will need to reinstall that as well. This will be a fun project for me, I hope.

Well it turns out the engine is shot, but it's not a total loss, a new short block should fix it up. It's also not the original 5.0, which is fine be me as I much prefer the 5.7 anyway. Here's my thread on my new fall and winter project, I hope to have it on the water by spring of next year.
