Re: 1995 Baja Islander 188 25th Anniversary Edition
Hello all, I am Jim.
I just bought a 1995 Islander 188 with a 350 Mag and an Alpha 1 drive. I got the boat cheap but it has been in storage for the last 5 years. It was professionally winterized before it was stored, but it was stored outside with its cover on and was never opened up to air out. The moisture that was trapped inside the cover destroyed the interior, which is not that hard to replace in this particular boat, but I would like to get her fired up and take her out for a test drive before I spend a bunch on cosmetics. I have taken the carb off and have it soaking in paint thinner to dissolve the varnish. After I get it back together I will fire her up on the muffs and if all seems well, I will head to the lake for a test run. My problem is, the boat don't have a prop on it now and I don't have a clue what size it would need. Would you all running the 350s in your Islanders post up your prop pitch, diameter, and type (stainless or aluminum) please so I will know what to get?
She needs a good buffing and polish job, but here's a pic of the old girl:
