I have recently attained a 1979 Arrowglass Cheetah and just put it out on the water. It needs a lot of work but is fun to tool around on the lakes with. One major problem is when im running it full throttle it will occasionally slip outta gear and into neutral and stay there until i actually pull it down into neutral. The engine is a johnson 100 (javelin) Any help is much appreciated!

Re: Engine slips out of gear

I'm having the same problem with an evenrude.
It slips out of gear and into neutral untill it's warmed up for a while. However after about 10 mins of troling around slowly it does better most of the day at full throttle and very rarely will it drop out of gear unless I turn it off for more than 2 hours. then it's the same thing again.

Note: This only happens under load ( when it's in the water)
When I'm working on it in the driveway. Everything seems fine.

I havent figured this one out yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone will have an answer.
