Im sure everybody has heard this before, but any help would be appreciated> my steering is very tight while running at aprox 2000rpm and up, below that it gets alittle better but not much. while the motor is not running it is better. I dissconnected the steering cable from the motor and the steering wheel turned easy. I greased the exposed part, it got better but not by much, any suggestions? My engine is a 225 evinrude 1987. PS that was not the original engine and there is another steering cable that is not connected to anything, must have been connected to the previous engine. Can I disconnect that cable from the steering wheel or should I just leave it. Thanks for any help

Try playing with your engine trim while running. Usually if it is down too far it will make the steering seem a little stiff, trim it up a bit - you will feel a difference.
