Re: First on here......(Show Yer Alumacraft)

Here are a couple of ours.

We had the 14 foot Lunker for a bit and then swapped it for the 16 foot Dominator.
We had a 35 HP Evinrude on the Lunker and have a 70 HP Johnson on the Dominator.
The Lunker was a nice enough little boat but it was too flat bottomed and as such did not handle waves nearly as well as the Dominator does.
Both of these are/were my younger son's boats.

1993 Fisherman 150 CS. I love my little boat. It's got a 40hp Honda 4 Stroke. It'll go 32 miles an hour, and I can take it out at least 5 trips before I have to refuel the 6 gallon tank. It now has a bimini top so my wife won't die of heat stroke on the hot summer days while I'm fishing. I put a color Garmin color fishfinder on it, along with two Scotty Laketroller downriggers. It is a kokanee slaying machine! We were about to pull the trigger on a bigger boat this year, but I just can't justify it when this boat is everything I need. Now I just need to figure out how to put cushions in the bow so my wife will feel like she's in a ski boat. :D

That's a great collection Lloyd. It was great seeing the Super CS in person at Tomahawk last year. My friend just picked up a pretty clean Deep C. I'll have him look at your boats for some inspiration. I think my favorite is the FD with the front deck and center wheel deck.

I love them all. I run the Model R's the most but the one with the biggest thrill factor is the FD powered by the Johnson PR. There is just nothing like the sound and feel of that big rotary valve opposed twin.

Reviving an old thread I know but I was looking for a little restoration information on a boat I bought for my grandson a couple of months back. It to is a 1992 150 Fisherman with a 1999 35hp Evinrude. I need to replace some wood at the rear just in front of the battery and replace all the carpet. The owner didn't put Stabil or any other treatment in the gas and left it there all last year and the motor runs a little rough. I'm hoping some fresh gas with some carb cleaner will help that. I took the wood out that I need to replace and there is styrofoam under there on either side and in the center there is a thick aluminum plate that I think may be for models that had a seat mounted there. I'll try to post some pictures as soon as I learn how.:)

Purchased a 1956 Deep C and starting on resto. Polishing windshield now and trying to get dual trumpet horns and spot light installed. Then it's new seat cushions and convertible top replaced. Maybe someday a vintage power plant and repaint. Not good with the picture thing so here is a PhotoBucket link.

Boat 002.jpgI bought my Alumacraft maybe 20 years ago. I love the way it handles on the water. I wish it would catch more/ bigger fish, but I guess part of the responsibility for that is on me. Here are a couple picts of it on the trailer. View attachment 198803

I just bought this big beauty the other day. Its a1961 18' queen merrie. I had wanted it for a while but they were asking1200 originally. Ended up getting it for 440 with the trailer, seats, and original canopy. The floor is gutted and it has no motor though.

Looks like a nice start! I wonder why they stayed with the lower transom for short shafts? I'm interested to see your choice of OB. I'm on the hunt for an early 50's Johnsonrude 50 hp. for mine.

That's a full 20" transom. It's only rated for 90 hp but it may get a 115 merc for a short time until I can trade down. It's getting a cedar floor.

You've got a very nice boat in the Queen Merrie! As for the transom height I'm pretty sure in only came with a 20" transom. I've seen photos of a Queen Merrie that was an inboard/outboard set up.

Re: First on here......(Show Yer Alumacraft)

New here - but I need to log in my "before" challenge, see pics (as soon as I master how to upload). Thanks to info here I located the number on the transom strut, F-10729, contacted Alumacraft and received news the same day that I am the proud owner of a 1955 Model F and they included a scan of the brochure for that model with specs. Over coming weeks I will share progress on restoration. Job #1 is the transom - and I see lots of guidance on that from prior posts. By the way, the original aluminum oars came with the purchase and are in great shape. Now I will try to add a pic or two . . .

Backwaters, more photos of your queen are required. How do you like it with thatsmall of an outboard? How fast was it and how much weight have you had in it? Mine is probably getting a repower if I can find something of the proper era in good shape.

I bought this boat last year and was told it was a starcraft. Figured out on the forum that it is really an AlumaCraft and with further research figured it out to be an FDR and think it's a "59 model. Sounds like a really cool find and can't wait to get the restore into high gear. Bought a boatload of 40's and 50's Johnson Seahorse outboards to go with her. My fav is the '57 18 HP and can't wait to see how she flies with that on the back. Have a 2.5 HP HD 25('42, think), 5 HP TN-26 ('50), 10 HP QD 16 ('55) and a couple 10's that don't have the model tags still attached... More research needed for those to figure out what I found but sure they are in the late 50's tho. Got a lot to do to get all these up and running and little spare time to spend on em. Will show pics along the way on the thread I have started in the rebuild, restore section here. Love this boat and glad to be part of this forum. There are so many helpful souls on here that are great to have on board to lead us in doing (mostly) the right thing.... haha! Already have parts of the restore done before taking and posting these pics. There was a lot of peeling paint that I already stripped and the next job will be the transom. The wood on the inside is totally turned to dust and falls apart when touched. Thanks to all who are willing to aid us who are beginners like me in restoring these old gems.
