You'd be surprised how many people give junk to non-profits, not realizing that they need to pay to get rid of it. They really don't need computers that won't continue to run well. Your intentions may be good, but they may do better with a cash donation.
If you want to wipe the drives and have some fun, remove them from the computer and use them for target practice.
