The iphone is an Apple product - it's special!
Initially, I thought cool - a Sony camera with a phone added, versus a cell phone with a camera added. Not really, IMO.
Looking at some sample images, they seem to be better than the average cellphone camera, but not by a whole lot. Unless conditions are just right, there is still the usual noise and purple fringe, plus autofocus problems, in touchy lighting conditions. Some of the face detection functions, etc, my kid has one his new Gameboy, that now has a camera.
A good digital camera is all about a good lens and a good image chip, neither of which this cameraphone has.
It's still a cell phone with a camera and nowhere near the awesome quality Sony cameras are capable of.
I'w with you, but good luck changing your wife's mind!
