Honeywell ultrastat thernostat(upstairs) works after battery replacement but cant read display

10 yr old unit, replaced batteries in tstat before(year ago) but this time, unit works but digital/LED display is garbled/cant see numbers

Make sure the thermostat is pressed fully into the base, Also make sure the batteries are fresh. They should be replaced annually. If the display stays messed up it's probably time for a new one.

had to insert batteries backwards to reset unit!!! now works fine :facepalm:
