Indubitably! This morning I bought a proper post/terminal cleaner. It is both a reamer for the terminal and a cutter for the post. I had seen these before but had forgotten about them. There won't be any more black crystaline coating on any more of my battery posts. I am going to stop by a local battery shop and see what that was about. Usually it is a non conductive corrosion on the negative terminal that causes the problem. Here there was no corrosion evident on either the positive or negative posts.
