It keeps up with Netflix when streaming 3 Rokus on 3 tv's.
Must be fairly low quality I would imagine.

You aren't going to like to hear this but I would have bought a newer model modem than that. I believe that one came out around 4 years ago and there are better modems now. It may not matter with your DSL since it is so slow but newer modems have much better signal processing in them now and can somewhat hep if you have some flakey line signal issues.

Who is your ISP? Are they the ones that recommended this model? If so, I would trust their judgement on what they have had the best luck with.

When you go to this site and run a test with nothing in your house running anything, what do you get for download speed?

Viewing on a 40" and 52" tv, image looks fine.
We don't get the degraded image that we got 30% of the time with old modem.

TDS telecom for a provider, only one available.
Checked with att as I have att wireless, and they said - no go.

I am not in the sticks, but at the edge of the sticks, out in the country.
It sucks being 3 generations behind in technology.

speedtest results are better than the old modem.

ping 49 52 64

download 2.90 2.84 2.88

But upload is a consistent .3 , but with the old modem it was at .6

No one recommended this modem to me.

I asked for recommendations here and another site, got none.
I looked at several online, but many these days are geared toward cable, so no phone line input.
Also, many appeared to be provider specific.

Don't feel bad roscoe, I am at least 4 generations behind with no hope in the near future of getting anything faster than what I have right now and have had for the last 10 years!

I'm ok with what we have now, I guess, since the buffering has stopped.

Would be nice to have an alternative provider though.
Because I do feel bad ever month when I have to pay the $94 dsl bill. !

With those speeds you are not going to be able to solve the problem with a device. I had 1.5mb DSL and when my son was watching a low def cartoon on the roku it would die when I was doing work on my laptop. I am now on 50mb cable and can have all 3 Rokus going with no problem while I get my work done. Changing routers will not increase your wifi speed. It comes down to the weakest link and that is your service.

Yup, every once in a while I can get a netfix movie to stream but not very often.

Seriously guys, its working pretty well. We had all 3 streaming for 2 hours tonight, no quality issues or buffering.

Right now, 2 rokus streaming, and I'm on the Mac surfing iboats.

I think the Mac may be a bit slower at times, but that happens all the time anyways.

Oh yeah, almost forgot.
The Rokus are all current generation roku 2's, less than 6 months old.

I don't think the version of the Roku has anything to do with it. I have an old XD, LT and 2. They all perform the same. I am on the beta program with the 2.

The newer rokus have much improved processor and memory.

I can unplug the dsl, and the roku will still produce video for quite a while.

Also, support for early versions (metal box units) has ended, no more software updates, etc.
