Something that has frustrated me about this forum. Closing threads.

Great example here.

He designed a 3D printable part as a solution to a prior problem and was NOT selling it but rather made the file available for free download.

Maybe I'm alone in this but couldn't we be a more helpful community here?

Is it too much to ask members to follow our rules? Tacking new information on the end of old, inactive threads is counterproductive to effective transfer of information and contrary to how we prefer to manage the forum. In most cases a new thread can be and should be started to benefit all members with an interest in the subject.

Questions about how we manage the forum are covered in the rules, specifically Rule 9;

9. If you have questions, concerns, suggestions or complaints about the rules, moderation, or management of this site please contact a moderator via PM or iboats management for discussion. It is forbidden to debate these rules or their enforcement in the forum.

Giving away is covered by Rule 8;

8. You may not solicit any personal transaction (buy, sell, rent, trade, free, donate, etc.) in the forum.

Closed threads are not stripped out of the forum wealth of knowledge. Closing only stops new postings and the threads are still available to read and are searchable.

Guess what? Closed.
