Hey you guys start your home made soup yet??
A blizzard is a great time to do it. Keeps the kitchen warm and humid, and it's ready to eat all day long.

630pm update from NWS 24-36" across entire LI now and wind gusts raised to 70+
Governor closed all roads in 13 counties including NYC at 11pm to all non-gov't vehicles
12 million people not allowed to drive. Juno is the boss now.
On a lighter note, Ron Burgundy was right about scotch...

As of 5:15 AM EST . . . a view to my back deck . . . I figure that there is about 18 inches of snow so far, with the intense portion of the storm coming over the next few hours. Snow blower, be ready.

Yup, weather 'patterns' are sure interesting . . .

As of 6:30 AM EST we are at about 24 inches of snow . . . so we have picked up about 6 inches in the last 75 minutes.

Roughly 18" -20" now. 3 steps high on the leeward side of the house. Forecast for 4-6 more. Alot lighter to the west.

Historic blizzard...6" of snow shuts down NYC. 24-7 weather sensationalism at its best.

About 3 ft drifts on the windward side. Only 6-12" western LI and NYC.

NYC did not look too bad from the pictures on the weather channel. I just did a measurement of the snow on my deck and it appears to be about 28 inches as of 8:20 AM EST.

Governor opened all counties and services at 8am. News is blabbing about this being an overreaction after not preparing for the snow event in Buffalo last month that left people stranded in their vehicles for days. Waiting for the village plow to come by so I don't dig out twice. Looks like snow will end for me around 3pm. Hoping to finish clearing by dark. Islip airport near me reporting 22" now. When it's finally over may be close to the record for us (26.3").

While government types do plenty that's worthy of being blabbed about, this was bound to be one of those darned if ya' do, darned if ya' don't situations for 'em.

Sounds like ya' got a good pile, but nothing devastating. Glad it wasn't worse. Hope it shovels easy for you.

Yup, eye passed 50 miles east of predicted yesterday and that was a difference of 20" accumulation. My back hurts just looking out the window at it.
