The Cup Chase ins and outs and maybes - 1-14 are clinched, Newman and Biffle are currently in on points, while Bowyer and Larson still have a chance to get in on points. And any first time winner for 2014 will knock out the bubble position. So the last two spots are still very fluid.
  1. 24-Jeff Gordon, 3 wins, 1st in points
  2. 88-Dale Earnhardt Jr., 3 wins, 2nd
  3. 22-Joey Logano, 3 wins, 4th
  4. 2-Brad Keselowski, 3 wins, 5th
  5. 48-Jimmie Johnson, 3 wins, 6th
  6. 99-Carl Edwards, 2 wins, 7th
  7. 4-Kevin Harvick, 2 wins, 8th
  8. 5-Kasey Kahne, 1 win, 11th
  9. 18-Kyle Busch, 1 win, 17th
  10. 11-Denny Hamlin, 1 win, 19th
  11. 41-Kurt Busch, 1 win, 21st
  12. 43-Aric Almirola, 1 win, 22nd
  13. 47-A.J. Allmendinger, 1 win, 23r
  14. 20-Matt Kenseth, no wins, 5th in drivers points
  15. 31-Ryan Newman, 9th, +42 points
  16. 16-Greg Biffle, 10th, +23 points
  17. 15-Clint Bowyer, 12th, -23 points
  18. 42-Kyle Larson, 13th, -24 points
News
  • Beginning 1 January, the Nascar Nationwide series is no more. The new sponsor is Comcast through their Xfinity brand, So it will be the Nascar Xfinity series or NXS.
  • Turner Scott Motorsports has shut down the the #30 team of Ron Hornaday. Apparently Turner and Scott are having some legal disagreements. I say that because they are suing each other.
  • The Weird:
    • Michael Waltrip is one of the contestants on ABC's Dancing With The Stars in the upcoming season.
    • Joe Nemechek's team ownership may be facing difficulties. One of his owner partners has been accused of imbezzlement, 30 Million bucks worth. BREAKING NEWS - Nemechek has picked up a new sponsor for Richmond. The Friedman Law Firm - I guess Dewey, Cheatham and Howe had other commitments.
Fantasy Live
Tyke2G, our lurking pontooner won at Atlanta and is holding his :first: high overhead. He was followed by aspeck, sam60 and FlaCowboy. osby is holding on to his overall lead, but lost a few points to Cowboy, his lead is now 287.5 points.

Make you picks or changes for Saturday night and good luck to all.

Well, the N-wide race was boring. The Twerp led flag to flag, every lap.

In qualifying for the Cup race tomorrow night, Keso took the pole followed by Gordon, JJ, Happy and Logano.

More trouble for the Twerpster. His rear end was confiscated and sent to the Nascar R&D center for closer examination following the N-Wide post-race inspection.

It took long enough to get the first real caution - 124 laps. Debris, but it must be parts off of Kenseth's car.

A new kind of caution! A fan climbing the fence. Maybe he's chasing the squirrel from last week.

Keso wins and is the top seed in the Chase with 4 wins. Biffle got the final spot, Kenseth and Newman join him as the only non-winners in the Chase. JJ kinda collapsed after getting out of his car.

Cowboy has taken this weeks race unofficially and chewed into osby's overall lead.

We're off to Chicagoland for the first race in the Chase.

Boy JJ, was pretty bad when he got out of that car, read an article this morning, they had him in hospital for over 90 minutes and gave him 5 liters of fluids to get him re-hydrated, That is scary stuff, letting yourself get that dehydrated.

It sounds like JJ is OK after his dehydration scare. And we're OK here, too. FlaCowboy is toting the :first: home and is making room on the mantle by sweeping some rib bones to the floor. He did a victory dance because the footsteps osby hears are Cowboy's. :D: The overall point lead osby has is down to less than 200. So the iboats Fantasy Live contest is also in the Chase, just like the Cup guys. BEEP, BEEP :car:

I had to post this;

Jayski's always posts a race and commercial breakdown after a race. One of the stats is mystery cautions(debris not shown). There was one at Richmond. This week there was a new entry - Number of 'stupid stunt cautions': 1 And a follow up to that ;

Richmond fence climber arrested, charged UPDATE: An unidentified fan made it all the way to the top of the catchfence in Turn 4, bringing out a caution during Saturday night's Federated Auto Parts 400. Richmond International Raceway spokeswoman Aimee Turner said the unidentified fan was arrested by Henrico County police and charged with disorderly conduct and being drunk in public. The fan sat atop the fence while the 42-car field zoomed underneath him at speeds upward of 120 mph. Asked how the fan got past security to climb the fence, Turner said the track will "review safety measures with Henrico (County) police and NASCAR." She said officers were stationed along the fence in front of the grandstands. One of those officers can be seen in photos on social media looking the opposite direction as the fan sits atop the fence. A video shows the fan getting past a cordoned area and climbing. The caution lights did not come on until after the climber had begun his descent, after sitting atop the fencing for several minutes. Police officers surrounded him at that point.(more at the USA Today)(9-7-2014)

UPDATE: Henrico County police identified the spectator who climbed to the top of the catchfence during Saturday night's Sprint Cup NASCAR race at Richmond International Raceway as James Richard Dennis, 53, of Henrico. Dennis was arrested and charged with being drunk in public and disorderly conduct. Henrico police Lt. Scott Jones said Dennis told police it was his birthday and he wanted to be on national TV. "He's up in the stands and he's waiting for his chance," Jones said. "When the officers are tied up on something else, when the officers walk away, he runs down, climbs the fence, all the way to top, starts waving, and he got his wish."(News & Advance)(9-8-2014)

I hope he had good BD in the calaboose.
