This weekend Nascar travels to Indianapolis for the Brickyard 400 named after some guy who didn't win a contest or is a veteran. Could it be the promoters and Nascar what to hear Brantley Gilbert Big Machine Brickyard 400 roll off the tongues of the announcers?

Cup and X-Men will be running starting with X-Practice on Friday.

For the first in a long time there are more Cup entries than starting spots - 41 on the entry list.
Weather may cause some delays with a chance of T-storms Friday and Saturday. Sunday looks a little better.

News and Notes
  • Alex Bowman will be the new face in the #88. Did Kenseth know something when he said 2 days ago he wouldn't be in the #88?
  • The Twerp will retire from X-Racing after he gets his 100th win. 89 and counting unless some back markers spoil his dream or let him win to get him out of X-Racing.
  • Two teams were penalized at New Hampshire for loose lugnuts. Suarez and the forementioned Twerp. CC's pay up $10K each.
  • Last week Larson failed post-qualifying inspection for rear deck fins. Steve Letarte on NBCSN showed what they were talking about. The clear fin apparently was lowered between inspections; larsonfin.PNG
  • TV ratings - New Hampshire was 1.95 and the prior 3 years were 2.0, 2.3 and 2.6

The overall standings have TB2448 on top, adding a few points on second place.
Make your roster changes before the green flag on Sunday. Good luck.

Even with 5 non-X-Men in the X-Race today at Indy, all heats and the race was won by X-Reg's. Byron won Heat #1, Sadler won Heat #2 and Byron won the race.

So The Twerp didn't add to his X-Retirement goal of 100 wins. I'm so sad!

Next up - Cup qualifying.

We all need to start pooling our money and buy a race team, so we can hire this kid when he is ready to step up to cup! He is amazing!

I've always thought a road course should be in the playoff portion of the season, and that Indy's should be part of it.

Next year the Charlotte playoff race will run on the new infield road course. Given that Sonoma, The Glen and the Charlotte infield race, Indy possibly dropping the oval and switching is a good sign. Glancing at ratings, which the sponsors use to determine how much to ante up, the road races seem to have less falling off.

Joey is starting at the rear for a lost motor in qualifying. Did you hear that WIMUSKY ?

Cole Whitt is going to the back for gear change. So it's JJ, Gase and Whitt starting at the back.

Heck if they all keep going to the back, they will end up back in the front again!

It looks like it may rain, approaching from the Northeast.

First yellow for Lajoie spinning and performing a wall whack.

Rain nearing, about 10 miles away.

Track drying underway, approximately 2 hours before it's ready to go if the rains don't pop up again.

They must be better track driers than they think. Drivers have been called to the cars.

But there is another small fast moving cell approaching.
