Made it through ok ..scary as hell though
Glad to hear you made it through okay.

I bet you're glad that it didn't make landfall there too!

glad to hear that. haven't heard too much about injuries or deaths at least in the U.S. so that is a good thing
Four dead in Florida due to the storm. One woman had a heart attack and emergency services were shut down. The oters I haven't heard details about yet.

Power still out so posting from phone .
Luckily no damage to the house . Had some screen get blown away and one medium sized limb fall on the roof . We watched all the forecast and just made the choice to stay put . I really wanted to see how the place would hold up . They had down rated the storm surge and that was welcome news .
I think if another one comes with the same path we will leave . A direct hit and we would have been under water I would think .
Luckily I am on the west side of the island that probably helped out with the surge .parts of the island did flood and the road in was not passable for probably 15 hrs or so . Once the wind switched the water receded pretty fast .l do have some pics that I will post later when the power comes back on .
I got called in to work to help get the hospital in Nassau county ready to reopen .all the bridges were closed but the police made calls to confirm from the hospital that we needed to get there so they escorted me and my crew all the way to the hospital .
Praying everyone in the path stayed safe and came out well ..

The storm came inland over North Carolina unlike other states and now in Lumberton rescuers are getting people out of hotels. Many are evacuees from the coast.

It's not over yet.

A quick pic . This is my neighbors house that backs up to the marsh ... This was after it had backed out some .. It didn't make it into the house but it was lapping at the back door . We got pretty lucky ...

You were lucky. Looks like you have a just little bit of elevation that saved you.

They say the surge at my place was around 7 or 8 ft . A direct hit with 4 or 5 ft more surge may have reached us on the other side of the road .. I think being on the backside of the island helped out because even though the water came up the wind was pushing it away from that side . This is the only way on and off the island . A before and after shot ...
