Found this 81 or 82 Merc 80hp on kijiji 2 days ago. Complete engine with controls, tilt pump, and a spare prop. Guy was asking $700 CAD, worked him down to $450 CAD (about $350 for those in the states). Its replacing the old 45 Chrysler that my boat came with. Don't know too much about boats, but I figure I damn near stole this setup.

To you seasoned boaters out there, how did I do?

snickers i am around1600 in the 750 9.9 hp motor but sadly a remote control 9.9 is very hard to find around here a lot of limited hp lakes but its ran fine for the last 4 years

Rebuilt the transom on my boat this past weekend and got it installed. Fired up like its a brand new engine. Shifts smooth and runs excellent. 120-126 psi across the 4 cylinders.
I think I need to lower the motor about 2 inches though. Cav plate is about that far above the keel. Its just a 16" fishing boat, I dont need to go super fast. I've got alot more engine than I need.
