Was wondering how you faired.

Our weekend trip to the area just got replaced, and moved about 75 miles, because we can't get to the lake we were going to.

Its gonna be a long summer of detours, hopefully they can get most roads opened by summers end. But I suspect several of the larger washouts will require to rebuilds, and need to wait for next year before construction companies can get it scheduled.

holy cow! hope you guys are all good.

as a second point I can't believe I forgot about asking you guys how the roads are. I am thinking about taking another trip up to Grand Marais MN. This would involve Hwy 53 through Hayward and Superior. Normally if just in the truck I wouldn't be worried but will be pulling 30 foot camper.

so any issues with roads? I will be coming through end of July. still have to ask the relatives how the roads by them are. planning to hit them up on the way home for a couple days.

We're good right here. The one time I'm glad we live in sand.

Here's the latest up here. Hayward just has some flooding. Should be good when you come thru.... But, all bets are off if we get a bunch more rain. Talking more rain this weekend. Won't take much with flooding already and grounds which are already saturated....

Thanks Musky. I will have to keep an eye on the weather up there than, but will keep planning the trip so far.

We received one boat yesterday that was damaged in Saxon harbor. It was thought to be at the bottom of the lake, but it turned up 10 miles out, and was able to be driven here. 4-5 more are supposed to show up today, one under tow with pumps and a hole in the hull.

That first pic is very interesting, weather always fascinates me - thanks for sharing. Those road pics are a reminder of the power of water - it's gonna do what it wants to do, unless you spend a lot of money. and even then...

I hope all are safe up there.

can't believe I forgot to come back to this one. got up to Grand Marais without a hitch. well other than losing the vent cover over the bathroom. was a great stay there until the last night when it decided to pour. see above statement about vent cover LOL nothing quite like standing there to use the bathroom with a 16" square hole above you while it is raining.
went to Superior to visit relatives after that. Have to say I was impressed with truck pulling the camper up the hills of gravel/sand/mud roads to leave BWCA

Once at the relatives I got the vent duct taped up enough to get us home. Good thing as it poured the next day too. LOL dry potty stop was appreciated.

coming back down here we did see some of the damage done to HWY 53. was nothing on the N bound side. S bound had some pretty serious washouts. luckily there was enough of it left to get everyone through on one lane.

stayed up for a week and really made me miss living up there.
